Local Interest
Although Casa Segundo is situated in a quiet village community, you are never far from many interesting places. Whether you play golf, enjoy sunbathing on beaches, like exploring the old towns and cities, or even want fun at the famous waterparks - you are always catered for.

Restaurants are plentiful and of a high standard, especially in Carveiro, where you are spoilt for choice.

Beaches
Viewed from the sea, the coast is a series of brightly coloured cliffs, strangely shaped outcrops and caves, whose almost unreal beauty is set off by the clarity of the waters. Between the rocks long stretches of sand alternate with tiny coves, some that can only be reached by boat. Many local beaches are only a quick drive away and are very secluded, with beautiful surrounding rock formations.

Lagoa
The nearest town is the quaint Lagoa, where Manueline doorways, windows edged in blue and the imposing turret of the monastery create a feeling that time has stopped and suggest ways of life now long forgotten. A selection of shops, a must-see fish and meat market, and several cafes and restaurants make this a handy place to visit both in the day and in the evening.

Carvoeiro
Here we find the charm of a fishermen's beach and a small bay with crystal clear water. However, it's also a cosmopolitan tourist centre with a huge variety of restaurants which line both sides of the main hillside. Several shops and bars ensure this is a great town to visit. A large supermarket is situated just outside the town. Boats can be hired to visit caves and isolated beaches.

Golf
3 golf courses are within walking distance of Sesmaries. Quinta do Gramacho is a short 9 hole course, Vale da Pinta is its twin, but with a full 18 hole championship course. It is set in the Pestano Golf Resort. The course runs through an old olive grove, where some of the trees are more than 700 years old.

Vale do Milho is a short nine hole course which is visually very attractive, yet surprising because of its challenging nature. Ideal for practising with short irons.
